Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area

The Secretary of State appointed an Assessor, Peter Burley, to look specifically at the issue of the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area (TBH SPA) and English Nature’s Draft Delivery Plan. Peter Burley is a Principal Planning Inspector with the Planning Inspectorate. His terms of reference can be viewed by clicking here. Peter Burley's report to the Panel can be viewed by clicking the 'Assessor's Report' link below. A separate document list has been created for documents which have been created or alluded to as part of the Assessor's work. This will ultimately be incorporated into the full EiP Documents List where some other core documents can also be found under Natural Resource Managment.

3 separate technical sessions were organised to enable all the available evidence to be openly debated. In addition, as part of the main EiP process, a more general debate on Biodiversity took place on Tuesday 16 January 2007. The TBH SPA and its implications for future development will also form the major part of the discussion at the EiP session on 22 March 2007 where it will be debated in a session that considers it in the context of the two Draft South East Plan sub-regions within which the TBH SPA lies - London Fringe and Western Corridor and Blackwater Valley (to be held in Reading Town Hall, see 'Notes for Participants' for details).

The general deadline for statements for the full EiP sessions that are to take place in Reading, which includes the joint TBH session on 22 March, was 22 January. However, the Panel recognise that those interested may want to make comments about the report. Because the report was not available until 19th February the Panel are giving an opportunity for addendum statements to be submitted. The deadline for addendum statements to the EiP Panel relating to this report only is 5th March 2006. These statements should accord with the general requirements for all Written Statements as set out in our 'Notes for Participants'.
